Dr. Tomasz Janowski, Senior Research Fellow of UNU-IIST and Head of the UNU-IIST Center for Electronic Governance presented a lecture on "Policy-Driven Electronic Governance" at the Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 2012, 9-11 April 2012. The lecture presented the evolution of the public sector ICT, postulated the next phase in this evolution - Policy-Driven Electronic Governance, and introduced some challenges in the transition to this phase. Organized by the eGovernment Authority, the Bahrain Society of Engineers, Project Management Institute - Arabian Gulf chapter, and the Bahrain Internet Society, the program of the forum comprised sessions on e-government, mobility, social networks, e-participation, e-innovation and open data. According to A. Majeed Al Gassab, Chairman of the Executive Committee, "the forum provided an integrated technical program, and featured a number of internationally renowned keynote speakers to discuss and assess the sector's recent issues, make timely strategic course corrections, and plan a roadmap for the future. In addition to a wide variety of interactive workshops and poster sessions, all carefully selected to better shape government strategies and implementations across the GCC market in particular". |
